ABOUT SAHA UK
South Asian Health Action (SAHA) is a national charity that supports the physical and mental health needs of the local South Asian community.
OUR MISSION
South Asian Health Action (SAHA) was formed in February 2017 as a charitable organisation.
We recognised that for a long time there was an inequality and lack of patient, carer and community engagement when it came to major health related issues such asdiabetes, heart disease and organ donation.
Therefore, SAHA was born from the desire to really make a difference and contribute towards raising greater awareness of such health issues, to empower individuals in knowing where to turn to get the right support they need.
As a national charity, we’re patient and carer led which means we really do listen, understand, and advocate the needs of our South Asian community from lived experiences.
OUR VISION & VALUES
Our vision is to engage, educate, empower and explore our community to give them the confidence and resources to face challenging situations to make better health and life choices.
engage
We do this by creating discussions within our communities to facilitate change in attitudes, behaviour, and health.
educate
We do this by helping the provision of education amongst our communities on all aspects relating to
long-term health conditions. Educating them on prevention or management.
empower
We strive to empower our communities by providing them with the support, information, and resources they need to maintain good health and mental well-being through practical advice, training and health education.
explore
We look at different pathways to encourage greater engagement & involvement of the South Asian community within the co-design,
co-production and consultation in research to improve local services.
