The Phoenix Way
The Phoenix Way is a national collaborative initiative established during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the structural inequalities faced by Black and racially minoritised communities in accessing and influencing grant funding in the UK.
Our Goal
Enhance the capacity of regional Black and racially minoritised Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations by facilitating workshops, training, and providing one-on-one support to increase access to funding.
Collaborate with Black and racially minoritised communities through group sessions to identify priorities, areas of need, and inform the inclusive design of funding schemes and processes.
Engage with local communities to establish community grant-making panels in target areas across our region, ensuring decisions are rooted in the communities they serve.
Map Black and racially minoritised VCSE organisations across our region to enhance visibility and foster collaboration.
Empowering Black and Racially Minoritised Communities

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to drive transformational change at both regional (midlands) levels by adopting a racial equity and social justice lens. We aim to create learning that impacts the wider funding ecosystem and supports Black and racially minoritised communities and organisations.
